Elina Mereminskaya holds a PhD (Doctorate in Law) from Göttingen University, Germany. She has a long trajectory in academic realm through teaching, research and publishing.

Academic Involvement & Research

Elina’s main line of work focuses on arbitration and construction. See Publications.
In addition, in over two decades of professional activity, she has covered a broad range of topics from the academic and practical points of view, such as comparative company law, international sales under the “The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods‎ (CISG)”, conflict of laws, foreign investment and international trade agreements, among others.
Between 2004 and 2018 and restarting in 2024, she has been teaching full-semester courses on “International Arbitration”, “International Contracts” and “Conflict of Laws” at the University of Chile, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Between 2006 and 2007, Elina taught “Comparative Legal Systems” at the Jesuit University of Alberto Hurtado.
Between 2004 and 2005, she taught “Introduction in International Public Law” at the Institute of Advanced Studies of the USACH University.
Between 2011 and 2014, she acted as co-researcher of an interdisciplinary project financed by the Chilean Governmental authority FONDECYT under the title “Collision and Harmonisation of Regulatory Regimes in Global Contexts”. The results of the investigation were published by the Uniform Law Review under the title “The Making of World Society Through Private Commercial Law: The Case of the UNIDROIT Principles”.
Between 2009 and 2010, upon the request of the Chilean Center for Public Studies (CEP), Elina performed an independent analysis of the Convention 169 of the International Labor Organization or “The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Convention,” which was published by CEP’s journal Public Studies.
During that same period, she drafted the chapter titled “Administration of Treaties and Dispute Resolution among the Signatory States” as part of the project on “Legal and Institutional Reforms for the Implementation of Trade Agreements: Lessons from the Chilean Experience”, financed by the Interamerican Bank of Development (BID).
